BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 10 (Midterm Examination Day)

Too bad my flash disk got corrupted and I cannot even access my important documents like my students' projects and their grades! (done in Excel). I used to note their grades immediately on my spreadsheet but now that it was corrupted I was left with no other choice but to let them redo all the four activities and two projects. What would be the basis of my grade if I won't do it? So, when I told the students, they are quite upset but I explained to them the reason why and somehow they understood.

So, here's my exam:

Theory (A simple identification of AutoCADD screen)

Application (A simple gear)

One Sunny Sunday at the Beach....

T'was Saturday when I asked my hubby that we should go to the beach early Sunday morning. He partly agreed but somehow wasn't able to make it because we woke up late and we need to prepare for the church. However, right after the Sunday service, one of our churchmates invited us for a lunch on the beach. His parents who came fresh from Bukidnon wanted to have swimming before going back home. Well, in spite of the scorching heat of the sun, we went with them and indeed Babie had a good time feeling the roughness of the sand! Since we haven't brought extra clothes, we were not able to let him experience the sea water for a swim... Better luck next time c,")

BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 8

Yeah Thank God it's Friday! Time for Project No. 2! Well, am not really expecting for that much from them but somehow there are still some students who just couldn't get a very simple instruction! This time, I really need to extend my patience to the nth level. As for that student who made me really mad yesterday, he was absent. He took it seriously when I told him not to show up again in my class. Of course, I uttered that words out of anger but I told his board mates to let him report by next week in consideration to his parents who took the toil in sending him to school, specifically for this summer class. Disciplining youngsters like them isn't an easy task. How I wish that before this class will end, these students will remember all the reminders that I told them in becoming a responsible individual.

BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 6

My class started well with one activity being performed by my students. However, when I let them practice for the next project which supposedly be done by tomorrow, I was enraged when I check their work from the network support (which enables me to view their monitor), one of them did something else apart from the activity that I sent to their computer. I was so mad that I blew my top and I called him "bastos" because what he did was a sign of being disrespectful to women. See, instead of practicing for the activity that they are going to perform tomorrow, he draw a naked woman. I was totally blown to the top. He came to me when I dismissed them and apologized yet I just couldn't forgive him for that. Students now are really different if we compared them to students long time ago. I do not know what really comes into his mind that he did such thing. I was even threatening him to report it to the Dean. It is disheartening to think that if there are more students who are just like him, what would be the future of our society? Such kind of student should be dealt with accordingly because once tolerated, we might just be producing an immoral individual that might cause a big problem in the society.

Whew! what a day!

BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 5...

I was late!

Anyway, so far, so good... My students have already adjusted to our lessons. Though there are still some who couldn't really do their project on their own but at least they are exerting real effort to learn the commands. I just need to keep on reminding them to take down notes. Morning session ends up earlier because they have done their activity faster than the previous sessions. Afternoon session is equally good. There are more serious students on this group. They too finished their hands-on activity an hour before the time. So I just asked them to photocopy the notes and activity for tomorrow's session.

What a day!

BSU Summer Class Journey

Day 4...

It's Tuesday! Again and again I was late! I need to walk quite a distance before reaching the office and I usually find myself breathing heavily! (My tummy gets bigger and heavier anyway LOL)!

My students are improving well. There's only few left who just cannot really grasp the lessons as they should be. Our activity for today is quite challenging. I introduced new commands like Scale, Polyline and PEDIT! As usual, I spoon fed them with the do's and don'ts but there are still some who committed some mistakes. Anyway, for them to really do their best, we agreed that all unsatisfactory outputs will be returned to them unchecked so they have to repeat it until they got it right! At least they agreed with me LOL!

BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 3

It's Monday, and I was late! I was tagging along my son with me that is why I was late LOL! Anyway, I can see on the faces of my students that they are really determined enough to learn. Before giving them their activity for the day, I asked them about their struggles. Good thing they are open enough to share the things that they truly found difficult. So I once again made some recap with our past discussions. A series of demo was done. I also emphasized to them the value of taking down notes and listening to every discussions I gave. So far everything paid off with the result of their work. Indeed, extra patience is all I need!

BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 2

Well, today is quite stressful for me. My patience was being pushed to the limit by my students. You see, I spoon fed them with what to do and all yet most of them just cannot get the instruction. They were given complete hand-outs with detailed instruction on it. However, they just cannot give me the desired and expected result from them. They even find it too difficult to save their work. Well, I just need to extend a little more of my patience.

BSU Summer Class Journey...

Day 1...

Well actually this was my second day but somehow there's a slight changes with the sectioning. Instead of handling two courses (Automotive in the morning and Electronics in the afternoon), the Dean of the CIIT instructed us to handle the two sections of the same course to avoid conflict with the schedule of their major subject. So I was assigned to teach the Electronics students and today would be our first meeting!

I first oriented them with some of the rules that they need to follow including the requirements that they need to comply in order to pass the subject. I also gave them the grading criteria as well as some expectations for the subject. Right after introducing to them the AutoCAD application, I gave them the freedom to explore.Well, I can see their willingness to learn. It's going to be a month long of patience and perseverance

Good News!

I really thought I would be idle from work for the whole summer but thanks to God I received a very timely text from a colleague that there's a need for an additional teacher for the Basic AutoCADD Summer Class with the students from Bukidnon State University-main campus. I've been handling BSU students way back 2008 and now I am back! Indeed many students were enrolled that they cannot be accommodated for just one section so they have to be divided. I was tasked by my colleague to do the splitting of students. As a result, we'll be handling 34 students for each section, not bad at all-just good enough for the available computers in our CAD Laboratories.

I am so excited to handle students from Bukidnon again. I know they are still adjusting to CDO's climate considering that they have colder weather there compared to here. I know as well that it would be a challenging session with them. When asked if they have any background with AutoCADD subjects their answers are all negative. Good thing most of them knew the basic computer operation like booting and shutting down...

It's going to be a long and busy month for me! God bless me!

Carpe Diem!

I am a teacher and I taught in one of the prestigious universities in Cagayan de Oro City, the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST). Just like any other universities, MUST also has its shares of flaws however if what you are looking for is a university that promotes quality training and teaching at affordable cost, I bet, MUST is the best option.

I earned my degree here (Mindanao Polytechnic State College back then) in 2002. I took Bachelor of Technician Teacher Education major in Architectural Drafting.  During my college days, the tuition fee was still at 25PhP per unit. In my four years of residency, it was always my goal to pass all my subjects and with so much effort and dedication, I finished College with no failing grades. I am just an average student and I terribly hate Math subjects. I even find it difficult as well to pass the Chemistry and Physics (and all other subjects that deals with numbers and formula). I remembered once, Calculus was being offered as an elective subject and I was being challenged by my classmates to take the subject. So I replaced Rizal with Calculus. However, during the first day of class when asked by our Instructor if we really want to take the subject or otherwise has to withdraw it before she got hold of our class card. Without second thought, I was the first to withdraw my class card and change it back to Rizal. My classmates were shocked with my decision. Like what I have said, I really hate numbers but with my goal, I doubled my effort in passing all those required Math subjects and everything was worth it though it is not really that highJ.

Now that I became a teacher, I could see myself in some of my students. But I was just saddened with the fact that some of those whom I have handled were not really that serious on their studies. They were not even alarmed to get failing grades. Just for this past second semester alone, I’ve computed lot of failing remarks. Their easy-go-lucky attitude, lack of dedication and poor study habits contributed much to their failures. I must say, I did my best in reprimanding them yet I even came to the extent of considering them even if they don’t deserve any consideration at all. I pity those parents who labored hard just to send their children to school. And it is disheartening to think that such students don’t take their studies seriously as they should be. I also pity those students who are serious enough yet they need to stop because their parents could not afford to send them to school anymore. That is why I appreciate those students who work and study at the same time, especially those who still manage to get good grades despite their busy schedule.

For the incoming freshmen, college life would be a whole lot different from high school life. Your scholastic records greatly influence your future, so always seize the moment! Aim higher and never settle for less! Don’t make failure as an option. Avoid it while you can. Enjoy life as a student but always see to it that such enjoyment won’t hamper your future.

Capturing Cherished Moments

Wedding is a dream- come- true for most women. In fact, if the man proposes marriage, his partner might find it quite hard to believe. Why? Because the lifestyle trend nowadays is that couple chose to live under one roof first before exchanging marriage vows as a sort of trial to gauge their compatibility; thus, wedding seems just a “last option” to some. However, women who valued the solemnity of marriage insisted otherwise.

When my ex-boyfriend (now my hubby) proposed to me, it feels like I was in Cloud Nine. I know it doesn’t ends there but the fact that he is going to marry me, I was very happy! The preparation wasn’t that easy. There are lots of things to consider from major to minor wedding details. It is tiresome yet it is worth the effort. It is already in the instinct of every bride-to-be to make their wedding memorable enough. Talking about memorabilia, wedding photography is one of the things that should be considered the most during the preparation. Like what others are saying, wedding is a once-in-a- lifetime event though you have the option to renew the vows during significant anniversaries. However, the first exchange of vows is what matters the most.

In choosing a wedding photographer, opt for the professional one. Choose somebody who could deliver a superb output just like Halifax wedding photography (see sample below). From pre-nuptial photos to the big day, every moment should be captured well. Wedding Photography Halifax promises to deliver the kind of output that will surely last for a lifetime. After all, treasuring cherished moments through photographs is one of the greatest gifts that one could ever have.

Another Quarter of Ordeals...

March 2013 is finally over and here comes April... First quarter has gone and we are about to face another quarter...
Yeah, me and my family have just gone from a Family Camp, and it was a fun-filled experience, first time for my baby to have a long distance travel. Now we are back to reality, the realities of life on which you have no other option but to face it. I am seeking for a summer job, I don't want to stay idle for the whole summer. I am also crossing my fingers for new opportunity. My online sidelines seems too scarce this days and I have to look for another option. But I am hopeful that God will still provide ALL our NEEDS, especially my baby's needs....
You might have some ideas to share just feel free to comment below...
